Child Care Now NL has been made aware that draft updates to the Child Care Operating Grant Program documents have recently been circulated to child care operators and family child care providers by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
These are the documents that outline the program, policy, and standards associated with the $10-a-Day child care program.
CCN NL was not consulted on this document and have not been given a copy of the document to review.
However, CCN NL is hearing concerns from operators who have seen these draft manuals. CCN NL is particularly concerned about the limited consultation on these important documents that govern the $10-a-day child care program.
We have expressed this concern to NL’s Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, and we will follow this issue closely.
