Amira Noweir
My name is Amira Noweir, and I am a Level 4 Early Childhood Educator and provider of Family Home Childcare services. With over five years of experience in the field, I possess a strong passion for early childhood education. I am committed to enhancing the quality of early childhood learning and advocating for better working conditions for educators.
Alyse Stuart
Alyse Stuart (she/her) is labour advocate, activist, media commentator, and communications professional. Alyse graduated from St. FX with a Joint Advanced Major, from St. Thomas University with a degree in Education, and earned a Master’s in Gender Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland where she was named a Fellow for the School of Graduate Studies. Alyse was the Chair of Common Front NL and 15 and Fairness NL, and remains committed to fighting for workers, accessible childcare, strong public services, and equity in the province. She is the currently the Communications and Campaigns Coordinator at the Newfoundland and Labrador Association for Public and Private Employees (NAPE).
Gail Brinston
Gail Brinston has been working as a frontline ECE since 1986. She is also a long time committee member on the CUPE National Childcare Working Group which provides CUPE with advice in advocating for universal, affordable, not-for-profit, regulated, high quality, child care that includes fair employment along with good wages,health and dental plans as well as a Pension for ECE’s. Gail is a board member of the ECEHRC. As a board member representing labour, Gail is dedicated to bringing a diversified perspective to the ECEHR Council.
Patrice Gordon
Patrice Gordon is a passionate advocate for children and educators in the Newfoundland and Labrador’s Early Learning sector. She is an active Steering Committee Member of Child Care Now NL and a member of the Board of Directors of Child Care Now National. She has been engaged through Child Care Now in advocating for a medical and dental benefits plan, as well as a defined benefits pension plan for workers in the Early Learning and Childcare sector. Her tireless efforts have helped raise awareness, and she is confident will bring about positive changes for Early Childhood Educators in her community and beyond. A driving force in Patrice’s career has been her belief in the value and professionalism of Early Childhood Educators.Through her work, Patrice continues to inspire a love of learning in the children she serves and advocate for the dedicated professionals who work with young children every day.
Kim Dreaddy
Kim Dreaddy (she/her) has been the Executive Director of the Jimmy Pratt Foundation since July 2024. She brings more than 30 years of experience working to improve the lives of marginalized people in Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada. Kim applies the principles of social justice to her professional and academic pursuits with the hope of affecting change at the systemic and community levels. She has worked in a variety of sectors including gender-based violence, housing and homelessness, education, mental health, and addiction.
In her spare time, Kim finds joy in spending time with family, traveling to far-flung countries, and cooking.
